Cosmetology

The two-year program in cosmetology provides the training and opportunities to work in a salon with real customers. Besides hair styling and hair care, other areas covered include skin care, nail services and artificial hair. A heavy dose of the math and science supporting salon work is included. Motivated students can earn their State of Michigan Cosmetology license at the same time they complete their high school graduation requirements.

This program is not just about appearances. Students must be motivated and disciplined, able to work in a group, have an aptitude for science and math and have strong communication skills.

This program is provided by the Brighton Institute of Cosmetology and is available for students enrolled at Brighton, Hartland or Pinckney High Schools.
